Image Name: Golden Silence at Dawn
In the far North of the Okavango Delta’, the extensive islands are home to an astonishing array of wildlife that thrive in the open grassland patches, forests and bush.
A predawn start from our lodge saw us navigating the thick sandy tracks that wind endlessly through the landscapes allowing us access in & through the dreamlike awakening of the Delta’s chorus, a plethora of sights and sounds inundating every sense.
A herd of Elephants comes into frame, the golden dawn upon them, silhouetting their bulbous bellies and curvaceous trunks.
The scene is one of immeasurable beauty, the backlit warm glow of sunrise accentuating their slow, deliberate movements whilst locating the bounty of roots.
Dexterous giant feet work with precision to kick up the hidden treasures, gold dust bellowing upward and outwards as trunks grasped and shook roots before eager mouths consumed them.
Oh, the splendor of the African dawn, a perpetual, all embracing miracle.
